Review: The Christmas Promise

The Christmas Promise by Richard Paul Evans
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I've always enjoyed RPE's books. This one follows suit. However, I was disappointed, as a Latter-day Saint that for the first time, that I am aware of, he included a man and woman sleeping together without being married. Yes, that matters to me. No sexual details, so it was all 'clean', though still immoral in my viewpoint. It wasn't "bad", so I wasn't embarrassed or put-off, but still, I wish it hadn't been included. I try to understand that his audience is not just LDS, so drinking, coffee, etc. are usually part of his books. But this time it went a little further.

Basically, still a fun book to read and still a clean book to read. But that one thing made a difference for me.

RPE's books all tend to follow the same pattern, it seems to me; however, this book broke the pattern just a tad, which made it more interesting as the plot twisted a couple of times in unexpected ways. I liked that.
